jlo,
I've got a buddy who owns a sv650, actually it's his wifes' bike. He rides a Hyabusa. Anyway, I have had a couple different opportunities to ride the sv650. I guess it depends on what you are really wanting from a sport bike? It has good pick up from a dead stop, not mind blowing, but very good,(smokes away the Savage.) I did not bury the speedometer to witness top end numbers, but I did take it up to about 120 mph. Handling is great, can easily take the curves and is very light weight for easy manuvering in traffic. It will also bring the front end up if your brave enough to pop the clutch. My honest opinion is that it is a very good bike for the purpose it was designed for, maybe not highway cruising. The guages are easy to read and the motor has plenty of smooth power without being overly aggresive. If you are hoping for 11 second quarters, go with another bike. When compared to the ls650, only the light weight shares similarities. Two totally different bikes, with two totally different rides. Seat height, foot controls, seating position, throttle response, and suspension are all a different feel.

Grace and Peace,
Rooster
